Getting to Know Dementia
This introductory session is for people who are experiencing early symptoms of dementia, as well as family members or friends who are supporting a person with a recent diagnosis. We will review basic information about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and the impact of receiving a diagnosis. Participants will also learn about different types of support available including services offered by the Alzheimer Society of B.C.

Family Caregiver Series
For family members or friends who are currently supporting a person with dementia. The sessions will cover: Understanding Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, effective and creative strategies for communication, problem solving responsive behaviours, personal planning, navigating the health care system and self-care for the caregiver.

Dementia Dialogue – Even Batman had Robin: Asking for & Accepting Help
As a caregiver for someone with dementia, are you uncomfortable asking for or accepting help?
• Asking for help is not a sign of weakness or inability to cope, it can benefit all involved
• Explore how to ask for help and what help is available both formally and informally
Lead by two facilitators who will guide the discussion and provide information and resources.
